Although the holidays are upon us with a vengeance,  we will soon be back to chauffeuring our kids to dance practice, choir,  soccer, baseball,  play dates, and all the other time-consuming, life-enriching, activities we’ve come to know and loathe (I mean, love).

Do you really have time to prepare a healthy meal for your family? Of course you do.  No,  I’ve not lost my mind (not completely, anyway).  If you serve these quick, easy, healthy, and inexpensive meals (whew!),  your kids will think you’re the smartest mom on the block (and, they’d be right).

Parents become alarmed when they hear horror stories about the “terrible twos.” Just realize, most parents do survive these “wonderful” years—and you will, too. You just need to understand why your toddler is behaving this way. And, no, it’s not an evil plot to drive you crazy. Read More→

Is dinner time a complete disaster at your house? Is it the time of day when everyone feels tired, cranky, hungry, and just plain out-of-sorts?

If only a genie nanny could magically appear every day around 4:00 pm and prepare a well-balanced feast while you soak in a warm, bubble bath and your kids nap soundly in their rooms. Dream on!

But why, you may ask, is dinner so important anyway? Read More→

Is it just me, or is the moral compass in this country broken? We turn on the television and find out our favorite talk-show host has cheated on his wife, not once or twice, but numerous times over the years…and with his staff, no less. Have you stopped watching his show? Did his ratings plummet? Did his sponsors pull the plug? Did he get fired? Was his “apology” heart-felt? Read More→

Time for Mom
Being a mom is tough… being a stepmom is really tough. You want to keep your husband happy, his kids happy, your kids happy (if you have biological kids) and usually anyone else that comes within 3 feet of you happy. Admit it… you’re the one in the family that’s taking care of everyone -except yourself.

If you keep running and running, making sure that the whole world is happy, and forget yourself, you are going to burn out and be worthless to your blended family and to yourself. If you truly want to love your family, you need to learn how to love yourself. Read More→

Green Tea Rocks!

Posted by: | Comments (0)

From time to time, I’d like to share the latest health news with you. I’ve been a major advocate of preventative health care for most of my adult life. I’m not one to try the latest, greatest fad diet or believe everything that comes out of a talk show host’s mouth. I want proof. Indisputable evidence. I will only relay information to you that is based on hard scientific research. In other words, I won’t tell you to stand on your head with a fig in your mouth to attain an instant face-life.

I’m on my soapbox now (can’t you see me?), as I extol the benefits of green tea to you. And, no, you don’t have to give up your morning coffee, espresso, cappuccino, or latte. Read More→

Whatever happened to stress-free living? You turn on the news, and you immediately regret it. The world is crumbling, the sky is falling, Planet X is crashing, the globe is warming, the stock market is plummeting, the trillion dollar deficit is growing, the unemployment rate is skyrocketing, the housing market is pathetic, your son is a drug addict, your single daughter is pregnant, and your husband just ran off with a grocery clerk.

Of course, you’re depressed. Of course, you’re anxious. Of course, you’re worried. Of course, you’re a nervous wreck. Of course, you can’t sleep at night. Of course, you’re overeating. Read More→

Is the great Swine Flu pandemic of 2009 media hype or is it for real?

Since last April, we’ve heard the battle cry: “The Swine Flu is coming! The Swine Flu is coming!” We’ve been bombarded on a daily basis with warnings that once “it” hits, the human race will be decimated. Only the elderly will survive.

Can I have my panic attack now?

Fear-mongering is a religion to those who rule the media. Scare-tactics work, as seen by high ratings. Worry and anxiety compel people to watch the 11 o’clock news. Terrifying news stories mean job security for ambitious reporters. Read More→
